Windmill drives for optimum power generation

Wind power is a clean, renewable resource. But wind fluctuates and output varies. To make maximum use of this renewable energy source, Emotron has developed a complete drive system with an adaptive control technique that makes power generation both reliable and cost efficient.

In a typical windmill solution, the Emotron AFG (grid converter) and VFX (PM generator inverter) together with other necessities such as a voltage measure unit all fit into a neat, small cabinet.

A compact all-in-one energy optimizing solution

Emotron delivers a drive system with the ability to adjust the generator load level on the one hand and deliver the electricity straight out to the grid on the other. Load is changing depending on the rotor speed and the drive automatically optimizes the energy output.

Standard drives for simple solutions

The brain behind this system consist of two VFX48 inverters that act as the AFE & VSI. LCL-filter, RFI-filter, DC- fuses, contactors and voltage measurement units are all mounted into the same cabinet.

Dedicated software for adaptive torque

For the VSI drive a dedicated application software controls the generator torque based on the speed for optimum output.

Additionally, a flying start function is catching the PM-generator in order to detect windspeed at startup. The software holds a range of automatic functions and can be adjusted to suit specific needs.

Grid code ready

The Emotron solution is EU grid code ready and also adheres to individual local regulation in a great number of countries internationally.
