Ennatuurlijk

Case study

CG Emotron empowers Ennatuurlijk’s district heating with energy-efficient drive systems

District heating is gaining traction as a sustainable energy solution in the Netherlands. Among the forward-thinking companies investing in this future is Ennatuurlijk B.V., a provider of heating and cooling for residential and commercial customers.

At their Geertruidenberg location, a strategic upgrade was undertaken to modernize critical infrastructure and enhance reliability. Ennatuurlijk selected CG Emotron not only for our advanced combined product offer, but also for our comprehensive support and technical expertise.

The Challenge: Aged Infrastructure, Rising Risks

Ennatuurlijk faced the need to replace outdated equipment that had served its time. Their system included three 620kW DC drives and motors, along with aging motor cables. These components posed a growing risk of failure in a mission-critical environment.

The modernization required a robust and future-proof solution that could guarantee operational reliability and efficiency.

The Solution: A Turnkey Upgrade

To meet Ennatuurlijk’s specific needs, CG Drives & Automation provided a complete, tailored solution that included:

  • Drives: 3 x Emotron FDU69-905 with safe torque off (STO) functionality, based on a five-PEBB configuration. This high-performance system provides energy efficiency and reliable operation for heavy-duty applications.
  • Motors: 3 x 620kW AC motors (480V, 880A, 1492A) with new couplings connecting each motor to its respective pump.
  • Cabinet Solution: Custom-built IP54 air-cooled cabinets supplied by Jac de Vries B.V., featuring door ventilators that optimize airflow from bottom intake to top exhaust for efficient thermal management.
  • Cabling: Complete replacement of old motor cables to ensure optimal performance and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

Why Emotron?

Ennatuurlijk selected CG Emotron not only for our products, but also for our comprehensive support and technical expertise:

  • Quick and responsive support
  • Fast delivery times
  • Innovative PEBB (Power Electronic Building Block) solution
  • Deep application know-how
  • Strong local service presence

Since October 2024, the upgraded system has been successfully operating in the district heating network. The new drives and motors pump hot water efficiently and reliably throughout the network, supporting Ennatuurlijk’s mission of delivering sustainable energy to homes and businesses.

Beyond immediate functionality, the installation marks a significant reduction in maintenance risk, enhanced energy efficiency, and improved long-term operational stability.

Looking Ahead: Setting the Standard

This successful upgrade at Geertruidenberg illustrates how legacy systems can be transformed to meet future demands. With CG Emotron’s solutions, Ennatuurlijk continues to lead the transition to a greener energy landscape.
