Brabantse Delta water board

Emotron Bladel implements IIoT solution on pumps

In crucial segments such as surface water and wastewater, the call for IIoT solutions is increasing. IIoT stands for “Industrial Internet of Things”. This involves making industrial applications such as pumps more intelligent by linking them via the internet to systems that can be set up elsewhere.

The defining feature of the connected devices on IIoT networks is that they transfer data without human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.

Maintenance and availability for 15 years

For the recent major conversion of pumping stations of the Brabantse Delta water board, Emotron was allowed to supply the frequency converters.

The pumps are part of the AWP 2.0 project. With this project, the Brabantse Delta Water Board is working on the renovation / renewal of the wastewater press pipeline. Emotron has thereby undertaken to guarantee the maintenance and availability of the installations for 15 years. Of course, this requires careful supervision and control for which an IIoT solution is of course the right way to go. The water board then gave Emotron permission to set up a pilot project for this at the press station in Roosendaal, in which Emotron can continuously monitor the installations over distance. Of course, guarantees of security and against risks of hacking are important conditions.

In the meantime, Emotron has set up this pilot and is able to monitor the installations properly without compromising the integrity of the installations. Now the controllers can be tested on the most important parameters and operating hours and both controller-specific and external factors can be continuously monitored.

Smart analysis of data

Through smart analysis of the obtained data, algorithms were set up so that the installation can even avoid preventive malfunctions.

Emotron can now perform;
• Monitoring from any desired location
• Log data at desired intervals
• Historical data analyzing
• Alarms and alerts for quick response by its service technicians.
• Error analysis

Benefits for the customer:
• Reducing downtime
• Better prevention of possible failures
• Always up-to-date status of the drives
• Crucial insight into best efficiency
• Trends and historical data
• Preventive maintenance.

The knowledge and experience from this project form important input for our new generation of ac drives with standard IIoT solutions that can respond to the growing demand in this area.
